Yes, there are many longwave stations heard here in the UK although many car
radios now do not include the band.

I was using a small Sangean 606A portable that I carry around whenever
I travel
abroad. This could explain the two images I was picking up. I had
actually never tuned any longwave before in Europe so I was suprise
how active the bands are there. Now I know why I saw so many portable
radios and stereos with longwave bands sold in Europe. Here in the
Caribbean, our medium wave band is full of stations from the other
islands and the northern part of South America and Brazil.
