I have both. The 1102 is the better radio, IMO. It does SSB, the
Tecsun PL-230 does not. As a newcomer, this may not mean much to you.

However, the Tecsun has slightly better sound thru the built-in speaker.
The 1102 seems a tad more sensitive also. Plus, the 1102 has 2
bandwidths, the Tecsun has only one.

The 1102 also has a *much* better backlight for nighttime use. The
230's LCD light is barely visible. The 1102 lights the dial *and* all
of the front panel buttons. *Very* useful.

For listening to the major broadcasters, you won't be disappointed in
either. As a total package, I like the 1102 better for the above
reasons.
