Hi Rob:

- Little tiny Shortwave radios are Just Cool !

I currently have a Jwin JX - m14 ( with Digital readout) which,
because it sips electricity, I use as an FM runer, feeding it throough
2 spare computer speakers. I take it out on my Bike, for walks & such, and
while not as good as my Sangean 606A, lots of fun.

I'm thinking abouot upgrading to a Kaito KA 105 ( with PLL & memories )
_ But want to wait around a bit to see what else pops up on the horizon

( from http://www.passband.com/pages/receivernews.htm )

Degen’s new DE105,

a decent little radio, is sold in North America as the Kaito KA105 with a
robust front panel. Yet, its limited frequency coverage and other shortcomings
make it a dubious choice when another $20 can buy the vastly superior, if
slightly beefier, Degen DE1101/Kaito KA1101.

If you simply must go with a pocket-sized model, be patient.

Rumor has it that there is a serious model in the works to fill the current
price chasm between the $55 for a ‘105 and the $360 for a Sony ICF-SW100S.

- So thanks for the review & - Have fun ! !

I was thinking of getting another Sangean 909 like I once had.
Then all these Degen and Kaito radios started showing up so
I figured I would wait and see how they held up...

But at my local pawnshop they had a Grundig Mini World 100 PE
for $18 in like new shape so I figured I would get that until I
decided what I would do. I like this little radio and will use it
outdoors on my daily walks with my earbuds. It is about the
size of a deck of cards with analog tuning.
New I think they might cost about $30 or so...

I found a matching silver plastic Sucrets lozenge case that
holds 2 AA batts, my earbuds and a thin 12 ft antenna wire
with micro clips on both ends for serious listening. The built
in antenna is only about 14 inches long!
I will make a shortwave freq chart to put inside
that case and will have a tiny am fm sw radio for travel, and
will use it on a daily basis since it is small and has a belt clip
on it. I heard Australia today from the southeastern USA.

I was able to get many stations on SW at night. I also have a
cable to allow me to run this into my full size stereo at home.
I am sure the other radios will run rings around this little radio but
I am keeping this one even if I get a larger one later.
I found this very indepth review of this radio if anyone is interested.
