I find the 1103 as sensitive as the 1102. The SSB anywhere feature
is nice. Of course it HAS to have something negative with the SSB.
It is a minor yet annoying thing to have it come out of SSB every
time you punch in a new number. The volume is WAY AMPLE although
what I thought was cool at first, turns out to be a pain. I refer
to the 2 step volume control. You push "VOL" then turn the tuning
knob. The fact that SOMEONE finally made a cheap radio without
the "chuffing" is great. Then again.... the radio makes some
annoying "chirping" sounds when you turn the tuning knob. I prefer
that to having it mute.
It seems to handle my 65 ft. wire without too much trouble. Nothing
the LOCAL/DX switch can't cure. The antenna is a decent length. Not
only is the display lighted but so are the keys (in a mellow yellow
color) Although some frequencies, including L.W. are NOT displayed,
It will accept them keyed into the radio.I think the bandwidths are
xlnt. I personally don't have much use for the 286 memories but they
are there should you need them.
I didn't even charge the batteries. Just threw them in and radio
says they're fine. I am surprised that I'm so pleased with this
machine as anyone who knows me knows I'm not very positive

I'm not one to write any detailed review but if anyone has any
questions I'd be happy to answer them. One thing worth noting...I
did go back and see what I paid for this and it wasn't all that
cheap. About $75 which puts it from about half to 3/4 the price of
the YB400PE. Interesting...
One other thing I forgot to mention is the buttons are extremely
small. I am a small person with small fingers and these buttons are
SMALL to me. If you have large hands, you better plan on using a
pencil eraser

This thing is awesome. A definite step-up from the 1102.
Picks up everything my $1000 receivers do.
Sorry. I had to add that. Someone else would have. It might as well be
me
