It's a safe bet that phrase wasn't crafted by a professional writer, but I'd
think you'd agree with him.

What he said boils down to "those who feel non whites are incapable of
governing themselves are wrong."

And I think both of us agree with that sentiment despite some of the right-wing
anti-Muslim bigotry spewed in this NG.

Sorry for the delay in replying, but once a thread turns into a Steve & Mike urination contest, I get selective about which messages I read. Didn't find this until I went back to see if you replied.

Racism and religious intolerance aren't left/right issues. They're moral ones.

While most Muslims probably are good peace loving people, they don't get nearly as much news coverage as the terrorists. Good news doesn't sell papers or drive up ratings.

So most of what we hear about Muslims is related to terrorism.

Louis Farrakhan doesn't strike me as a main stream spokesman for Islam either.

I still think the President is clealy showing that, in his mind, he
characterizes the US as a white nation.

I see nothing to indicate President Bush is racist. Look at his cabinet, look at his judicial nominees.

An example of liberal racists would be the people who decided to prevent a vote on Estrada in part because he's hispanic.

Another would be those who criticize conservative black people because they don't think the way a black person is "supposed" to think.

Personally, I think you show prejudice when you equate conservatives with racists or bigots.

Interestingly, the Republican I've heard the most buzz about as a possible Presidential candidate for 2008 is Dr. Rice.

And you know that there are all kinds of folks in this NG biting their tongues
to keep from saying, "Yes, it is!"

You may have hit the nail on the head when you said "all kinds" - but not in the way you intended.

But I also think they're just a vocal minority, and some of the remarks are puffed up for "entertainment value".

Have a good day, Mark!

You too.
