DiverD,
Yes "Thunder and Lightening" but it would appear that MWB has
turned it into another "Knock on Wood" experience with N8KDV.
Eddie Floyd song lyrics to "Knock on Wood"

The key song lines being:
It's like Thunder (MWB) and Lightning (N8KDV),
the way you love me is frightening.
You better knock, knock on wood, baby.

NOTE: Up in the Sierras near Village of Twain Harte.
[ Up in the Hills but Down in a Valley ]
Using a Low Noise Antenna during the Summer Days when the
Shortwave Bands are 'quite' I can hear the Lightening Crashes
up-and-down the length of Sierra Nevada Mountains:
Some LOUD, some Soft and some oh so faint.

T H U N D E R,
gentlemen??
See
http://www.nssl.noaa.gov/edu/ltg/
reports of Islands 3,000 miles away from Krakatoa, hearing a Huge roar,
followed by a Tidal wave,
give some credence to being able to hear Thunder 40 Miles away..
& how would a Disaster of that magnitude
affect Shortwave Propagation.
