Barry:
- Problems I've observed with FM reception in NYC are multipathing;
building blocking signals, etc..
and weak transmitters ( WBGO, 88.3 )
The other problem is your listening on headphones / earbuds, which eventually
wear down the plug-in socket.
You can probably get a Much cheaper AM / FM receiver than the SONY 100
Currently, I have a Sangan DT 110 for AM / FM walking around.
I really have no complaints with it. Got it at Universal Radio
http://www.universal-radio.com/catal...alty/2594.html
This even works well around 34th St, and was quite reliable during
emergencies.
I do carry extra batteries, because it has no ( low bat) warning, as my 606A
does.
This is a great little set, but too big for me to carry about in my shirt
pocket..
Until I get a good / *tiny* SW / AM / FM receiver, this is it for walking
around the City.

I want a really good, portable, FM radio. I live in NYC, and I have
lots of reception/interference problems. I was hoping the Sony 100s
would be a good choice for my needs. Anybody got any opinions on how
it functions as an FM radio (i.e. as an expensive Walkman).
Thanks,
