R8s do not work on batteries, or use a wall wart. They have a

They can indeed operate on a battery (a deep cycle for example), or a wall wart
(provided the wall wart can put out at least 12 volts DC at 2 amps).


Why would you run an R8 off of a wall wart? It has a built-in power
supply.

Whatever it is he has for sale, it does not sound like an R8. It
sounds like an SW8.
