Ever seen the 'ribbon' type banners? When you do, you'll notice they are
twisted to
form sort of a spiral. Part of the reason is because the 'spiral' sort of
averages the
ribbon's cross-area over a long span. Do the same with your ladder line,
twist it. It'll
still flop around a little but nothing like a straight run of it will.
How to support it over a 50 foot span? Depending on the size of
conductors used,
it ought to support it's self. There's no real need for large conductors,
either. A #18
hard drawn copper wire will support much more than it's own weight.
Shouldn't be a
problem unless you hhappen to get some very high winds...
