I applaud your optimism. However (not to berate the obvious), it's been
tried and found to be an act of utter futility to attempt a reasoned
discussion on most any subject -much less politics- in any usenet forum
regardless of best intentions.

I predict any reasoned discourse on politics would start off slow, and
taper-off/degrade from there. Although I think you (B.A.) would have a
better chance than most; my hat's off to you or anyone else that could
pull it off.

group. However, I feel my time spent here establishes, to some degree, the
