Default Longwire question

F1 wrote in message . ..
Silly question, maybe, but here goes: does it matter how the longwire
is mounted? Does it need to be stretched out, or would it be as
effective coiled up. What about doubling -- that is taking an 80' wire
and stringing twice around a 40' perimeter?

Also, does it matter how it connects to the radio?

Thanks!

GB,

The 'common sense' answer concerning a so called "Long Wire"
SWL Antenna is: As High as Possible and as Long as Possible.

In reality most so called Long Wire Antennas are really "Random
Wire" Antennas.

The are Random Wire Antennas because they are built to fit the
'available space' that can be used for a SWL Antenna by the SWL.

Things "To Do" before you build your SWL Antenna:
- First examine the 'available space' that you have to build
your SWL Antenna in.
- Second consider what type / shape / size of SWL Antenna
you what to build.
- Third determine what you have for support structures to
mount your Antenna from; or what will be required to be built
to support your Antenna.

The simple and most common SWL Antenna is the Random Wire type
that is made to fit the available space and limits of height
using existing structures.

The 'better' SWL Antenna is a "Low Noise" type that you can
