Press
Release from the Australian National 4WD Radio Network Inc (VKS-737) which
has 6000 members. Each member will receive one in their September 2004
mailing. They use HF extensively in Australia and BPL is a real threat to
their service to the Outback of Australia.

I'm not aware of any real world instance of BPL delivering on it's promise
of reliable broadband access to many people over a reasonable period of
time. If it's happened, I'd sure like to know, as I've been trying to
follow this issue closely. On the contrary, BPL looks like a failure in
many of the highly touted test sites:

I don't know if conditions in Australia favor BPL more than in the US. I
tend to think the US politicians approved BPL just to let it fail, rather
than get blamed for blocking a new wave in internet access.
