For safety reasons, our Bonaire relay station will stop broadcasting this
evening at 1900 UTC, and the staff will be evacuated, while Hurricane Ivan
passes through the area. Radio Netherlands Acting D-G Jan Hoek says "The
relay station consists of 20 antennas, of which the highest is about 100
metres. With such high windspeeds, the transmitting station is a dangerous
area. The safety of our staff is naturally the number one priority. We
remain in close contact with our colleagues on the island who are keeping us
informed of the latest situation." At this time it is not known how long the
station will be off the air.
The following transmissions will be taken over by our Flevo transmitter
site. Others will be off the air.
1900-2057 UTC English 17810 kHz
2100-2157 UTC Dutch 15315 kHz and 17810 kHz
2200-2257 UTC Dutch 15315 kHz
