32-year-old documents produced Wednesday by CBSNEWS 60 MINS on Bush's guard
service may have been forged using a current word processing program.

typed using a proportional font, not common at that time, and they used a
superscript font feature found in today's Microsoft Word program, Internet
reports claim... Developing...

Do believe during that era Some clerk-typist sat down at a typewriter with "N"
carbon copies and typed out the document.
Since you were using a Typewriter Ribbon, letters got filled with Ink.
The letter "e", being a commonly used letter, used to get clogged up quite
often, meaning you had to eventually clean the letters on the typewriter with a
"Q" tip and Alcohol.
If you didn't clean the keys, the ink would build up, eventually giving you a
smudgy looking letter.

And that ties in with this how?
