An extensive mod is not needed for the AR7030, since its "9.5 kHz"
position is wide enough. All that's needed is a downmixer with f_mix =
467 kHz to be attached to the receiver's 455 kHz IF output.
Interesting, Stephan. I wonder where to get more technical information
on this.
There are two documents available at
http://www.drmrx.org/receiver_mods.html which should get you a lot
further already. The Fraunhofer mod was quite a bit more complex, but
the document contains a nice mixer circuit (a more inexpensive version
of which is discussed in the second document). Here in .de a finished
mixer board as sold by Sat-Service Schneider
http://home.t-online.de/home/sat-service/sat/DRM/DRM.htm is quite
popular, mostly in the crystal version. Very small thing it seems (thus
popular for portable rx mods), and they've got a PDF with the circuit,
too. All you'd need in addition to that would be a small case with a 3.5
mm headphone jack and a cable (as short as possible) with a matching DIN
plug for the IF output jack.
