Subject: Hurricane Watch Net
Though not indicated on their website, the Hurricane Watch Net appears to be
active on 14325, at least on some sort of limited basis as Ivan makes its
approach to Jamaica and then on to Cuba.

I heard a net last night from Jamaica on 14.283, between 1:00 and 2:00 Z.
Some Jamaica men eating fried fish and Johnny cakes, talking about how
Grenada was taking a whooping. Don't hear them tonight tho. Hope they make
it through Ivan okay. They also spoke of a morning net on 7.195 starting at
5:30 or 6:00 a.m., their local time I think.

I've been listening the Jamaica net on 14.283 since about 16:25Z discussing
the Cayman situation. It looks pretty bad. One ham is talking about
reports on an FM broadcast station in Jamaica getting cell phone reports
from Cayman, saying people are on the roofs screaming for help. The Jamaica
hams can't make contact with Cayman. They are saying the Cayman situation is
worse than Granada.
The only info I heard about Jamaica is 16 deaths attributed to Ivan.
Traffic on 14.283 is intermittent but pauses are short at this time
(17:02Z).
