Using standard LED diodes you will get some light, but
by using the ULTRA BRIGHT WHITE LEDs' high intensity
light emitting diodes,the replacement for the 1157 type
bulb will be extremely effective, and provide much
longer lasting light from whatever charge is left in
the nickel cadmium battery...
You will need, as explained , to design a mounting arrangement
for the ULTRA BRIGHT LED and fit it so that it will be located
at the focal point of the mirror reflector or as near to it
as possible in order to obtain maximum illumination efficiency
