That was sort of a brain fart there...It would need to be a good bit
higher than a 1/2 wave to see max radiation at 5 degrees.. But those
angles are common on any usual VHF ground plane. A 1/4 wave ground
plane is a good cheapy 2m antenna for low angles. If mounted 20-30 ft
in the air, the angle of max radiation will be 5 degrees or less. On
HF, the angles will be higher, depending on the ground radial quality.
They could be just as low as the GP example, if the ground radial
system was good enough to approach a "perfect" ground , but most are
not. But, my comments about a 1/4 wave vertical being considered a
"higher angle" radiator still stand.. MK
