My question is: Can the wire be used *with* the loop also? I was thinking

with the antennas I used for the BCB that I can use to squeeze a little
more?
There is a way to phase the loop against the wire, but I'll defer to someone
who
has used that technique in BCB dx'ing.
Try a Google on 'loop phasing', that will give you a start.

Geeze Steve, that was quick. ;-) I didn't see why it couldn't be done. On the
one loop, I have two brass screws and I was thinking of #1 running the wire to
the screw on the loop or #2 running the wire to the receiver with the loop
right there. {?}
I'm sure if I tried it that something would come of it. Radio on a lazy susan
with a 30x30 loop connected to the table with maybe the other loop being used
also AND the long run of wire. {?}
Just wanted to know before I go through setting all that up.
To properly phase the loop you'll need a phasing unit, but I'm sure you'll see
that after doing the Google.
Though I'm certain that hooking the wire up directly somehow it will have an
effect upon reception.
