Peel was the best, a real champion of rock and roll. Miss him already. It's
sad he died away from home. Peel dearly loved his home in the country,
located between Ipswich and Bury-St.-Edmund, he had his studio there and
could record his radio program while watching farm animals. I'm sure some
sour listeners won't miss him ... Peel told me years ago that his program
generated more negative mail than any other on BBC World Service. I used to
love the way announcers would come out of "World Business Report" and
announce, "And now it's time for John Peel with *his* sort of music." R.I.P.
