Yes, Kennedy certainly played a role in escalation, but it began
with
Eisenhower. Although, Eisenhower wisely refused to bail out the
French, under Eisenhower in 1956, when the French leave Vietnam,

US Military Assistance Advisor Group (MAAG) assumes responsibility,
from the French, for training South Vietnamese forces. Historians,

Skipping past parsing arguments and what "is" is, I'll offer what is
only an OPINION: Ann Coulter is nothing but part of the dancing

& circus act for the masses, while we risk repeating history,

from a republic toward an empire, where the superfluous masses need

That may well be, and no doubt you regard the likes of Michael Moore
and most of Hollywood as part of the same circus. It also doesn't
change the fact that you initiated a thread on this matter, provided a
number of instances that allegedly made her out to be factually
challenged, but, when questioned, weren't inclined to go any further
into your own interpretation of her remarks, other than a quibble
about a "slippery slope." So it would appear that we can rest easy
that Wilson and Truman were Democrats and nothing Coulter said was
inconsistent with that.


I agree with you wholeheartedly about Michael Moore and most of

Look, you wanted to pin Vietnam on Kennedy. I pointed you to a fact
that many have forgotten, which is that the containment strategy in
Viet Nam began with Eisenhower, who used our military and the CIA to
prop up a repressive and corrupt regime (Diem). You and I disagree
that this is quibbling. I thought it spoke to your point of Kennedy's
responsibility for Viet Nam.

As for the rest of your argument, which is that because I have not
argued with you point by point, this proves me wrong about Coulter and
her lack of grasp with honesty of intention or truth. I've offered a
point of view based on what I heard and some facts that happen to
share the extensive weight of recorded history -- something which in
my opinion, Ann Coulter has never burdened herself with. Anyway,
without the transcript from the BBC, which I won't take time to
pursue, I have no other recourse than to offer what I heard Coulter
say, and you are in your full rights to make the challenge personal
and say I made it up, I'm full of ****, etc. OK. All you and I can
end up doing is quibbling, both ways. I've offered an observation,
and I'm choosing to let it rest here.
