I fired up the old Hammarlund HQ-180 tonight, and she was working great in the
Trops. The noise level keeps droping, the later in the Fall it gets. Got a good
copy, and ID of Radio Maria at 0730, on 3279khz. Lots of other stations rolling
in, but I didn't copy any other ID's, so I had to resort to PWBR for assistance
in sorting them out. The old "boat anchor" still works great, especially down
in the Trops. It outperforms my JRC NRD-535D, in these bands. Good DXing to
you, Gary

Hey, Gary, what's your QTH? Antenna of choice? I'm using an R75,
DX-Ultra and a makeshift temp random-squared (both length and
direction) wire.

I've been noticing increasing station carriers all across the Trops
too lately, as with you, using PWBD to sort 'em out. The Brazilians,
in particular, seem to be making the trip here around early evening.

Love to get a HQ-180!

Thanks,
Bruce Jensen
