There are are plenty of groups specialized to talk on political and
other topics. If you want political, geographical or sexual talk go to
the
related group(s)!
Newsgroups are related on themes. And rrs is related on _receiving_ not
on
_contetnt_ of transmissions. Period.
It's fine to point out what you're actually hearing on shortwave or other
freqs. But if you want to discuss on non receiving related content make a
follow-up to the related group. Thanks.
That is not true. Read the charter and you will see that this is an open
group that is not strict about posting on topic.
I realize that people will post whatever they want to post, but there
are groups dedicated to the discussion of politics and I *wish* that
more of the political stuff would be directed there. In fact, it seems
to me that that would be better for those posting political stuff,
since your posts will then be read by more people who are interested
in discussing politics. It would also help poor SWLers like me, who
want to be able to see the on-topic posts here without having to wade
through tons of off-topic posts. I wouldn't mind if a political post
popped up once in a while, but it doesn't seem like this group is
really about shortwave at all anymore.
Just my two cents!
You are just asking for people to behave reasonably. The normally
adjusted people will and the maladjusted will not. Use the kill file to
delete the latter and you will have close to what you want.
This morning 134 articles killed out of 200 articles. Only had to read a
few normal peoples responses to Trolling idiots and the rest were
relevant to short wave.
The computer is supposed to save you time and effort and by setting up
some rules blocking certain prolific off topic posters you can have it
do the work for you. Then you read what you want because you are in
control and not the mercy of the undesirables. This is not unlike the
tuning knob on the radio.
You don't have to read the Trolling idiots in any news group.
