12095 returned as noted by another listener. I listen on SSB b/c
of
an annoying teletype signal. I don't know what that is. I've had
BBC on 6195, but I get various bits of interfering signals on 6135
and 9525. I haven't really tried to ID them, but it's something
non-English. I'm a long way north of you maybe 2500 miles and 1000
west.
Sorry to hear about the interference problems. I don't have that
problem just that 12095 is usually to weak for me to want to listen
to it. 6135 is not a strong signal for me either. 5975 is usually
very strong and 9525 seems to be as well. 11835 was good a while
back.
All other BBC frequencies for me are weak most of the time. Other
than frequencies I mentioned above and a few others beamed to Mexico
the next best bet for me appears to be frequencies beamed to Africa.
I had to look at Mexico schedule (central America) to find any short
wave frequencies beamed to this part of the world. As you know they
just provide FM and now Sirius and XM satellite to the USA.
The BBC world service web site is real slow.
I couldn't hear Africa on 6005 last night (0500 UTC), which is
normally
reliable. It was barely there. What other times and frqs are you
getting BBC-Afr ? I like this stream b/c its so different in focus at
least part time.
Satellite radio is available here, mostly used by truckers who are
going day and night, and people north of 60 (in the NWT and Nunavut)
where you can't get much other than CBC-northern service (if that).
I have gotten them on 19 meters on 15,400 and 16 meters such as 17,830.
I can hear "The world at 6" locally at 4 p.m. (2200 UTC) on 6090, which
actually for N Quebec and the eastern arctic. Problem with northern
reception is those pesky northern lights I guess. We're getting sun from
9:30 to 3:30 at this time of year. Lots of aurora activity this fall.
Bad
reception last night, very good this morning. More snow coming today
too.
Low overnight -13C, 8F. Pretty nice for this time of year.
Pretty nice? Arnie, if it get's that bad here I certainly wouldn't
consider it very nice!
Currently 46F, heading down to 37F overnight. We were in the 20'sF a week
or so ago for lows.
Guess I really better check the anti-freeze in the car though.

-23C last night (-9F). It's got to be -30C (-22F) before we really start
whining. We get into the -40's (same for F and C) for 6-8 weeks sometime
in mid-Dec to early Feb. So yes, this is quite nice right now. It all
depends on what you compare to! We had -54C (-65F) one day last year.
Things get very still and sound travels extremely well outside when if gets
cold. You can dress to be outside for just about anything. Cars, on the
other hand, really hate it when it gets that cold. I've always felt that
radio reception is better when it's colder. I don't know that this is
really true or the explanation.
