Roy, you asked for a couple of simple equations which give the currents
at the two ends of the coil. Here they are again:

Itot(bottom) = I+(bottom) + I-(bottom)

Itot(top) = I+(top) + I-(top)

Exactly what equations do you use when you make your assertions about the
current at each end of a coil? Please be specific.
