Hi Brian

I use a DX-440 that I bought new back around December of 1988. I
like to listen to news, music, programs about DXing, and Christian
programming.
I've had a few different radios since the 440 but I always sell the
others when I need extra cash. I like the sound of the DX-440 over the
others so I stick with it. I also have an Icom-718 which does alright
but I still prefer the 440's sound. It'll be a sad day for me when that
radio dies.

440 you say. I'm quite a fan of the 440 having had one for several years.
There one of the better deals on the used potable market, so replacing it
won't cost ya the farm, about $65-100 is the range I've seen and worth every
penny.

I've been listening to shortwave radio for quite a while
now. That thing about a program coming through the air and being able
to hear it in a box in front of you is still magic to me.
How about you?

I've been at it since about 1975 for the same reasons and I love
electronics, so SW fit the bill. I like repairing and trying out all kinds
of gear. I think I got some weird knob and button fetish. I was very
serious about dx in the 80s & 90s and I kept very meticulous logs and
recordings of my catches but now I just enjoy noodling around the dial. I do
quite a bit of pirate hunting. I like weird obscure stuff, always have.
