Well, conceivably there will be more folks getting into radio, so
therefore more potential customers for buying/selling/swapping.

Sure, Let's see now, to become a ham you must take a test for which you have
been provided the answers to study for. No code, no skill, no knowledge of
electronics, won't it make you feel good to be a member of such an elite
group. If they drop the code requirement here in the states, that what you
will have. I hate to say it but I know many CBers that have a better
knowledge of electronics than many of the newer hams.
