Looks like a nice radio...
Of course, if you look at the bidding history, you find there were only
8 bidders, and most looked like they were relatively inexperienced
bidders (the winner has 0 feedback, and the other guy that slugged it
out at the end with him only has 4 feedback. Two other bidders had 0 or
1 feedback...) The winning bidder even had a bid retraction within the
last month...
Maybe radios cost a bunch more in Europe, given VAT and all...
Another FT-857 sold a day or two ago, $720 US. Even it was over the
current going price for a NEW one (once you get the rebate back from
Yaesu). I'm amazed that someone would offer pay more than new, unless
they were raised under a rock or were planning to somehow rip off the
seller....
Last time I checked, I found two different places that were selling at
$774 retail, less the $175 Yaesu rebate (until 12/31) that's only
$599.....
Methinks Santa may come early to my shack this year, but not at auction
prices!!
