Is there any half-way decent indoor ant I can use on an old
Hallicrafters
S-40B? I mainly want to extend reception for nightime MW. Thanks.

Hi, Phil -

Why not just try the wire first before buying a tuner and see if you're
happy with the results? Can't hurt anything.

John

the s40b has no internal antenna -- I'm guessing she has some kind of
wire hanging off the antenna terminal now

I don't have the S-40B yet. May end up with other boatanchor if my patience
runs out. I think I wil try the wire first and see. Radio people sure are
helpful. Thanks all.

If your living in an apartment or need to keep things stealthy, for
appearance sake, a good antenna can be had by connecting to a close by
travis rod. You may have one that leads out to a balcony or patio or just
on a big bay window. I snake a thin wire along the molding, from my
receiver, up to the travis rod. The longer the rod the better. Because
of paint, electrical connection between the expandable sections can
be a little problem, but that can be fixed by inserting some small screws.
