I have cleaned up several old pieces of electronic equipment over the
years. Doing this outside, spray the components with 409 cleaner and
wait 15 minutes or so before rinsing with a garden hose.

Bake in the oven at very low temperatures NTE 125 deg for about four
hours to dry. Watch the temperature as not to damage plastic components.

The equipment will be as clean as new and the smell gone.
