Hi Richard and Mack
Thank you so much for the answers and advice.
I have cleared much of my doubts.
Do you know if Gilbert Cell is using Synchronous Detection or the one
with +/-IF?
Thank you and hear from you all
rgds and thanks
Jason
I don't know exactly what you want to do, but I have used the Motorola
MC1330 Synchronous Video detector as a CW-SSB/AM synchronous detector at a 9
MHz IF. The MC1330 uses Gilbert Cells. For AM you need an LC tuned circuit
at the IF frequency; For CW-SSB you feed a BFO signal (square wave works
fine) into the MC1330 at the same point. The DC level at the MC1330 output
depends on the signal amplitude; so, that can be used to derive an AGC
voltage. Tuning an AM signal is uncanny, in that a signal will sort of pop
in.
