Isn't capitalism wonderful? The ability to take something worth $200 and
sell it for $400 is what won the cold war. Even the Chinese have caught
on-how much money is spent in southern China to make a radio that can
sell for $100 or more in America? Liypn sells the Degen 1102 for $50,
while Kaito sells it through "legit" channels for $100 in the USA. Even
adding in shipping from Hong Kong, you come out ahead by buying the
Degen direct from China. And $50 is probably 10 times what it actually
costs to make an 1102 in US dollars. So Kaito is selling the 1102 in
America for a 95% profit margin. No wonder every factory in the world is
moving to China. Eventually EVERYTHING will be made in China, and tianli
will be all the more irrelevant. I'd love to replace every one of
tianli's radios with Tecsuns, and then watch the ensuing nervous
breakdown. It's off to the funny farm for people stuck in the cold
war...
