Phil,

It looks like your S-meter is from the S-36/S-36A VHF receiver made during
WW II. It covered 28 - 143 mhz.

If not, maybe I'll try to use it to make an external S-meter for my S-20R

http://antiqueradio.org/magiceye.htm ). I don't think they used this style
of meter face after WWII.
