Well, I guess the FCC could increase the cost of licences by about 10000% to
cover the costs of enforcing this for a very small number who would
benefit--but don't hold your breath...
Sure, most of those truckers are running 500+ watts and I have seen 1500
watt linears being built by a retired engineer in his garage (mobile
linears!) for extra beer money...
But hey, those truckers are in most towns and cities for a matter of
minutes, they don't get paid unless they are laying down miles on a
road--they are only temporary inconveniences...
"Radio Police" running up and down the freeways pursuing truckers seems to
come in low on a list including terrorists, illegal aliens, a failing SSI
system, increasing drug and medical costs, etc, etc--the danger of being
sued for illegal searches alone is scarry... not to even mention how
ridiculous it all sounds to people outside ham radio!
Becomming totally involved in a hobby to the point of losing all sense of
importance of reality is fine--I like to day dream--but get real!

a 53-foot trailer and when the cops ask for my CDL license, I'll tell them
I'm a free-roader and I don't need any stinking CDL. Sounds fair to me.

Can't spell, can not clearly communicate, and will spend serious
time in prison for operation on 10Meters. The fine is $10,000 a
Day, and the prison time is up to 10 years per infraction.
