They may be taking orders but I STRONGLY recommend that everyone in
this newsgroup WAIT until the reviews are in. Especially, as this is a
"new" radio of Chinese construction, do you really want to be a "guinea
pig?"
Remember the quality-control problems of the Grundig Satellit 800? This
radio is made by the same factory.
Let others have the "problems," if any. If the radio does turn out to
be a "good one," well, waiting a few months won't hurt anybody.
Don't complain if you do buy one of the initial production run and then
have problems with the radio. That would be your own fault!
I can't imagine that anyone on this group just HAS to have this radio
right away and CANNOT POSSIBLY wait!
Caveat emptor.
Best,
Joe
P.S. I believe that the Eton E1-XM is designed by and will be serviced
by Drake. Drake appears to be abandoning the short wave field. (As
recently as the year 2000 they had four [4] short wave receivers; now
they have none.) I wonder how this will affect their service department?
