I love how this subject comes up periodically. As you travel down the
highway, look at the signs that designate the speed limit. Do you obey
them? Likely not. The benefit to society of you obeying the speed limit
(in many cases, not blatant speed traps) is infinitely more important
than someone obeying the posting rules for this group. You won't kill
someone with your post. You can killfile consistent violators. You don't
even need to click on articles that you believe are offensive.

People regularly break a plethora of laws; speeding, running red lights,
illegal turns on red (at intersections marked not to do so), making a
right turn from the left lane, driving under the influence, etc. To
expect people that regularly jeopardize the lives of innocent human
beings to comply with a fairly arbitrary posting requirement is expecting
too much.

If not for the Off Topic posts, the group would only experience a handful
of posts daily. Hardly worth visiting. Yet even the Off topic posts
seduce many otherwise compliant posters into extended conversations
(sometimes more like recriminations ;-). It gives the group life where
little would exist.

Listening to shortwave has given me a patience that I would have lacked
otherwise. Propagation varies, shows that I dearly wish to listen to,
that blast in here day after day, are suddenly missing. Over time I
learned to accept this, this is part of life. So too my friend are the
off topic posts.

I mean no disrespect, but to put thing into perspective, the off topic
posts are a mere drop of water in the ocean of worldly wrongs.

Best Regards for your intentions,

Dr. Artaud

Please remember that and be polite and not post off topic items.
