I believe that God saw the advent of American Shortwave Radio (this is
intended to be humor) ergo the destruction of The Tower of Babel with the
ensuing language variants. We are at least protected from the confusion
of American shortwave radio in that many people are incapable of
understanding it. (I speak English and even I have trouble at times ;-)

With the Internet and American web sites, one can go to the many online
translation sites that do entire pages. Lunatic web sites also offer
individuals the ability to print material that is offered, cementing the
lunacy of these sites and American views. Unless one has a tape deck
ready, much of the Shortwave lunacy is not reproducible, except from the
memories of the listeners. Unfortunately, many of the Shortwave lunatics
also have web sites.

I do enjoy listening to much of what is said, though I give much of it
the same seriousness as I do "Coast to Coast AM" with Art Bell. Even
Steve Quayle has had his interesting days. When I first started listening
to his show, it was shocking, yet one failed prediction after another has
allowed me the ability to use the show as background chatter without
taking it seriously. I am especially impressed by Steve's segue from
current events to prediction, as if the listening audience won't see the
correlation. After the tsunami, Steve predicted more such events and
earthquakes, and even occasionally has a guest on his show professing to
be an expert in seismology. Fortunately Steve's guest is more objective
than he, and often fails to provide predictions suitable for
exploitation.

Of the BBC, RFPI, and the Radio Netherlands, they always seem to stray
into the same old issues, the U.S. is bad, homosexuality, prostitution,
the environment, euthanasia from the supportive perspective, and
legalized drugs. These are issues that I simply do not wish to hear, as
they emulate so many of the mainstream issues.

Two points:

Many more people have SW radios than have satellite TV.

People around the world are able to hear American kook SW, and form
their opinions of Americans from hosts like Jackie.

To the rest of the world, Americans must seem crazy or evil or both. I
wonder how many non Americans listen to American kook SW to hear "the
real story" as to how Americans "really" feel. To these people,
Americans are the most evil people on the planet, who hate everybody
who is even slightly different from them, and who are out to violently
subjugate the world. Keep that in mind the next time you hear Arab
conspiracy ranting, or thinly veiled America hate from Europe.
