Does anyone have anything postive to say about these radios?
The 2005 edition of the Passport to World Band Radio gave the E10 a
moderately good rating.
These radios are made in China, and like most Chinese portables, the fit and
finish generally ranges from okay to downright cheap.
I have a DE-1103 and KA-1102 (same as the DE-1102), both small Chinese
portables, which I find to be excellent on several levels for the price.
They aren't DX machines, but they didn't cost me much either. The DE-1103
and DE-1102 radios are less than $50 on eBay and they are solid little
performers. They are what they are, though... they are not in the same
performance range as a Drake receiver.
I haven't tried out the Eton E10, but I suspect that its performance
wouldn't be too much different than most small Chinese-made portables. If
you're looking for a better-performing radio, be prepared to shell out more
bucks, and you'll probably require more room to store it, and you will
probably need to put up a decent outdoor antenna to get maximum performance
from it, too.
