Well, Darren, there is at least one self-powered / crank-powered radio with
digital tuning. That would be the FreePlay Summit, still being sold at
Universal Radio, among other places. See it in Universal Radio's catalog
pages under the links for "specialty radios".
For small and cheap, I still prefer the analog-tuned models, for extended
run time on a set of batteries, or on a battery charge or on a given amount
of time turning a crank, if for no other reason.
