Linear antennas work fine. I'm using a concentric dual band quad (4 el 2m
with 8 el 70cm nested inside it) on HAMSAT and rx sigs are S-7 with an S 0.5
noise level on my FT-847 (80' LMR-400 feedline). Takes no more than 10w
uplink power. Very nicely working mode B transponder!

Is anybody on this newsgroup using the new (Indian) Hamsat? I've been
listening to it while mobile with an M^2 Ho Loop antenna and hear it quite
well. Haven't tried to uplink through it yet. Would a linear Yagi on
each band be OK? There isn't much info on this new bird yet. Just
wondering if it is using circular polarization or linear or what.
I would like to try a QSO through it for Field Day. Maybe a regular old
Yagi (or Quagi since I have one for 432) mounted on a makeshift az-el
setup and put the 2M and 70 cm antennas at right angles to each other to
cut down on the 432 getting to the 2M receiver and overloading it?
Ideas???
