Yeah, I briefly had an ionized path in the air for an antenna. It
extended clear from the top of the vertical to that big black cloud
passing by. It must have been really bad SWR, though, because my rig
turned into a cloud of glowing metal and silicon vapor, blew out the
window, and burned my eyebrows off.

Do you think the ionized path in the air could be used to carry HF currents?
With strong laser beams -if they don't diverge too quickly- this would lead
to "virtual" very long wire antennas easy to erect!
