.... my personal advice would be (having a cousin who is a criminal trial
lawyer) would be:

"If you are innocent as the whitest snow--if God himself finds you to be
in his grace--DON'T TRUST THE SYSTEM--if you must go to trial--GET A
JURY!!!

All that verdict meant was that the jury found the complainant
sleazier than the defendant. Happens every day when one puts one's
fate in the hands of 12 people who have convinced the judge that
they know neither party nor anything about the event nor about the
law and that they haven't been paying attention to what is going on
in the world around them.

In the original English "jury of one's peers" if one did not know
the defendant one could not be a juror in that case.

"If you're innocent, request a bench (judge) trial. If you're
guilty, request a jury trial" (Criminal Procedure 101)
