Just thought I would plumb the vast experience of you all before I lug this
bad boy on either my 20 ft garage or on the 35 foot roof of my house.
I am torn between setting this up as a ground mount with the usual ground
radial system or to set it up as a roof mount with the Butternut stub-tuned
radial kit. If the radial kit gives good performance it might be worth it
to try to deal with the roof mount as I do get the antenna up over the trees
with this configuration.
Anyone had any luck with this set up?

My two cents worth:
Used an HF9V at 20 feet with no radials for quite a while. Great SWR,
and gave me good results on both transmit and receive.
Used a trapped vertical - 5-BTV I think it was - on top of a five story
apartment building with no radials at all, and it was dynamite!
Why not put it on the roof, tune it, try it out, then add the radials if
you find/feel you need them?
