My neighbor has a new air conditioner and it's the source of some
serious rfi. Has anyone ever worked to "cure" an air conditioner of
this problem? If I give my neighbor some ferrites, will that
suffice--or is my only option to pray for cooler weather?

We bought a new window AC that has an "electronic" thermostat.
Major PITA. Depending on how far away from your antenna it is,
ferrites can help a great deal. Along with ferrites, I had to open it
up and add bypass caps all over the place. They can be quitened,
but it isn't going to be easy. AS more and more simple tasks are
given CPUs to control them, the noise floor is always going up.
A sad fact of life. The ony good thing is our new Panasonic is smart
enough to know when the lights dipped during a compression cycle
and will wait ~15 minutes before allowing the compressor to cycle.
