These sad missives are distibuted, Spam-like, to veterans groups
as yet another distraction from their failures in
The War On Terror.


There is a sneaking suspicion that this stuff isn't really written by
soldiers in Iraq at all, but by Bushies in Washington. Scores of small
town newspapers have recieved identical letters, supposedly from
different soldiers, all touting the same "successes" in Iraq. Stuff like
this circulates on the net, shamelessly pushing the "patriotic" line
that we must not waver or fail, that we must "finish the job", that we
must be resolute. They sound a LOT like Bush's speech a week or two ago.
Wanna bet they're written by the same speechwriters? Problem is, the
people increasingly aren't buying it. They see that Iraq is unwinnable,
that we're fighting the Muslims on THEIR terms, not ours, that Bush's
obsession with Saddam having done 9-11 has created, not extinguished, a
haven for terrorists. It's been shown that while the WTC was still
burning, and all the terror experts were pointing to Osama, Bush kept
insisting that Saddam really did it. He insisted that Saddam did it from
the day of 9-11 on, and nobody, not even his own father, could sway him.
Now he's insisting that we stay there for an open ended commitment,
that's recently been estimated at 12 years, and that we cannot fail. His
blindness threatens to sink America.
