No link that I know of re the Philco. It's sorry state, but no way would

you
know to see it or heft it. Flywheel tuning for sure. I think the book on
Zenith TOs show the Philco in its knockoff chapter. AFAIK Philco never

made a
tube TO clone. FWIW, most of the knockoffs are superior to the Zeniths in

many
ways. Except the Sears Silvertone, which makes a good 1L6 donor :-) I

have
most of the Zenith models.

Aw gee...I wanted a Silvertone. They're bad, how? So...the Philco is solid
state? I think I might have seen one of those.

So the 7BX10 is the other RCA TO? How is it different from the 3BX?

Almost identical electrically. The case is covered in plastic instead of
real leather (leatherette...same color). There's no band indicator, except
for the knob. The antenna pulls up instead of popping with a pushbutton.
The back panel is aluminum instead of plywood. Same size, a little more
modern styling of the front panel...wouldn't be able to tell them apart from
3' with the cover closed.

Then there's the 'alligator' 3BX which just went for $595 on epay...no
corresponding 7BX that I'm aware of.

I'm still waiting to get into my Hallicrafters TW-1000. I've got the
manual...waiting for caps. It's got the turret. Looks like fun.

I've got two of those, slightly different, and one sort of works, but I'll
probably have to go to Heaven to find a TW-1000 whose band-indicating drum
still works. Tho I may end up in the place where every dial cord breaks

and
the 1L6 always pops when you turn on the juice :-) --Mike K.

My band indicator is kaput as well. In addition, someone mis-strung the
tuning cord so that the indicator only moves halfway across the dial,
although the tuning cap goes full travel. I've noticed that many of the
TW-1000's have a silver band that runs up the middle of the side pieces when
viewed from the front (the 2000 has a identical gold band). Mine doesn't,
and there's no indication it ever did. Does yours? Is it painted on, or is
it an inlay in the leatherette?

I may go for a 'real' TO eventually...bid on several, but I'm concentrating
on the knockoffs...much rarer, still relatively cheap. You can will me
yours when you go...uh...wherever it is that you end up ;-)
