Not trying to be a troll, but there is a complete set of SX28A knobs on ePay
currently at $72.50. Did I miss something here? Can't one cobble together a
set for under the price of the food budget for the week?

Those knobs are unique. One has a calibrated skirt. I had three SX-28s once.
One had two good knobs. Another had the original knobs, but the markings were
worn off the skirt by a misadjusted pointer. The thrid set had a badly
repainted panel and non-original knobs (no calibrations).

www.mcmastercarr.com in New Brunswick NJ sells a cast zink alloy
handwheel very much like the main and bandspread knbs of an SX-28 for
about $7.75 ea. You'd have to bush down the central hole and paint it
convincingly

A good set of knobs is like a good ivory tusk. For every good knob/tusk,
there's a dead SX-28/elephant rotting away somewhere.

And next time your wife brings home the week's groceries, ask (in some polite,
subtle, way) if she got out for less than $72.50 :-) --Mike K.
