Actually, the guy who tried and failed was a known troublemaker and
was a
class A operator. This was back in the 60s and he had an advanced
ticket
that may have no longer been issued. They did have extra classes
then, but
no one paid attention to it. Once you had the general, you had
everything.

When they were going to implement "incentive licensing", I went for
my extra
and, as long as I had to be at the FCC, I obtained my telegraph
ticket too.

Not a big deal about cw. If one likes it, great; if not, so be it.
But it
is so much fun to get into these threads ))
