What power do TIS run?
I am picking up a TIS on 1610 from Winchester Ky
at S3. That is about 30 miles due east of me.
The station is a low bitrate digital job.
The bit rate is so low that it is prety distorted.
And it sounds like they program it over a phone line.
Real high quality audio. Not!
Travellers' Information Stations operate in the AM Broadcast Band (530 kHz -
1700 kHz) and are limited to a 10 watt transmitter output power and the
antenna height may not exceed 15 meters (49.2 feet).
