After I posted my comments and recovered from laughing at
Other than myself and Lennie, I only found ONE other semi-
regular
of this group had cared enough to comment: WA2ISE.

Missing? K0HB, W5TIT, N8UZE, W5DXP, K2UNK, N2EY, AA2QA,
K3LT,
W3RV, KB9RQZ, N0IMD, WK3C, W1RFI, N3KIP, KC2HMZ, K8MN.

Steve,

W5DXP, K3LT, WK3C, and W1RFI haven't posted to rrap in a long time.

Cecil decided to focus on antennas soon after the 2000 restructuring.
He said in here that 5 wpm was the right level,
he resigned his NCI membership and went on to other things.

Larry's work and other interests caused him to spend his time
differently.

Carl has shown up once or twice but his main focuses have been
his job, house, anti-BPL and NCI duties. Heck, he was so busy it
took him a year to get his Extra and vanity call.

Ed has been focused on fighting BPL. He's also an ARRL staffer, so he
may prefer not to even give the appearance of a conflict.

Smart boy.

The Miccolis Amateur Detective Agency (MADA) can't take it any
more... :-)

Or maybe its a new gubmint intelligence agency, the MIA (Miccolis
Intercode Agency)...

Soooooooooooo......

Where is everyone from BOTH sides of the aisle?

It's only been a few days. There are weeks to go yet.

K4YZ demands immediate replies!!!

NOW, NOW, NOW!!! :-)

Look at the responses - most of them are "Brief Comments", meaning a
short yea or nay. Many are embarrassing in their
poor spelling, grammar, capitalization and punctuation. Better
to spend some time proofreading and polishing.

Making fun of the dyslexic?

PCTA extras LOVE to humiliate anyone with anything different
from their viewpoints.

There's almost 600 Comments in the ECFS now and the daily number
is increasing. The "brief comments" exist on BOTH sides of the
code test issue.

There's also the perception some have that the whole thing may be a
done deal already.

It was a done deal in the 70's. The gov't just works vewwy, vewwy
swoly.

Actually, the official word from the gubmint came in 1990 on the
worth of the code test to the FCC for amateur radio licenses.
See FCC 90-53 on the creation of the no-code-test Technician
class.

But...with no less than EIGHTEEN petitions to change U.S. ham
radio AND about six thousand Comments on same, the petitions'
main themes showing LITTLE of the "consensus" that the FCC
mentioned, it's a wonder that an NPRM appeared this soon (in
my opinion).

Suppose the majority of commenters want code testing to stay,

Huh??? Where did you get that hair-brained idea? Who redefined
"majority???"

Jimmie doesn't get out much, doesn't understand the rest of the
"amateur community" other than his immediate Code Club.

With 3 August almost over, the FOR:AGAINST ratio is 392:129 or
3.1:1 on WT Docket 05-235. [575 total Comments to date, with
54 of those "in-betweeners" or duplicate Comments]

either as
it is now or maybe just for Extra.

Or maybe just for wishful thinking...

Only about 9.4% of Comments to date are "in-betweeners"
or duplicates. Most of those in-betweeners wish to have
code testing MOSTLY for extras...but a tiny few want FAST
code for ALL...:-)

Will that make any difference at all
to what FCC does? Back in 1999, a member of NCI read and tallied up the
comments and found that the *majority*
wanted either two or three code test speeds. Yet FCC went to 5 wpm
only.

Hi!!!

Now you think the FCC will reverse itself after releasing this NPRM?

Hi, hi, hi!!!

Tsk, tsk, tsk...Jimmie is a SORE loser...no, he's a BITTER
SORE LOSER, wanting to re-fight and re-fight all the OLD
issues in order to "win" something.

On another note, I notice both Maia and West haven't said a
word
either...guess they figure they'll sell books one way or the
other...

Almost everything NCVEC wanted in their second petition was denied.

Ditto N2EY requests...

Tsk, tsk. EIGHT Petitions (mostly pro-coders) were DENIED
while TEN Pentitons were "GRANTED in part."

Jimmie's "Blackguard" and "Quitefine" personalities are
beginning to emerge, wanting to FIGHT! :-)

Old battles, old fighting, done again hoping to "win" for
once. He ought to realize it won't work...be he no do.

btw, you missed the biggest hoot in Len's comments - the part where he
says he offers an "objective" view...AS IF!

Looks objective to me. No toob equipment.

Give Jimmie SOME credit...he may have learned how to design solid-
state circuitry by now...but so far, all he's built of that are
KITS designed by others.

As far as the vast majority of commenters, I would be OBJECTIVE
on this issue since I have NO vested interest in preserving a
license title/rank/status/privilege of any kind. Last I heard,
the FCC was accepting Comments from ALL CITIZENS, not just the
minority in the "clubhouse" looking out at the rest of the world
(and wondering why no one respects them for their "radio
pioneer" work). :-)
